Dr. Hanes received a bachelors degree in therapeutic recreation, masters degree in administration, post-masters specialist degree in clinical psychology and a doctoral degree in clinical psychology from the Michigan School of Professional Psychology. She has experience in neurorehabilitation, health psychology, university counseling, crisis counseling, inpatient psychiatric hospital settings, outpatient clinics, and school psychology. Dr. Hanes is on faculty at Oakland Community College.
Dr. Hanes practices from an integrative model of treatment which includes humanistic therapy, psychodynamic therapy, and cognitive-behavioral therapy with a strong emphasis on client-centered treatment. Her approach emphasizes meeting the client where they are in the change process with acceptance. Clients report high satisfaction in treatment with Dr. Hanes stating the treatment was non-judgmental, empathic, and provided a safe environment for self-disclosure and promotion of change.
Dr. Hanes specializes in highly sensitive adults, trauma, anxiety, including social anxiety, depression, chronic health conditions, adjustment disorders, traumatic brain injuries and catastropic injuries, and alpha-stim therapy.
